5 Easy, Warming Camping Dinner Ideas

Whether you enjoy camping under the stars, or you’re just looking for an easy, warming and delicious dinner idea, you’re in the right place. There’s nothing better than a simple home-cooked meal when you’re camping – but in the cooler weather, this also needs to be warm and satisfying.

Here are our top 5 winter, warming dinner ideas that can be cooked on a BBQ or even the fire!  

  1. Chilli con carne – this is super simple and can be made on the stove or over the campfire. Cook your choice of protein (e.g. beef mince), then stir through canned beans, tomato paste, mixed herbs and spices and some frozen or fresh veggies. Serve over some rice or corn chips and top with fresh herbs and yoghurt or sour cream. 
  2. Chicken and pesto pasta – an easy, delicious, one-pot camping meal that’s not to be missed. Cook your choice of pasta (we love the pulse pasta varieties for added protein and fibre), then stir through some pesto, cherry tomatoes, spinach and your choice of protein (such as tuna or a pre-roasted chicken) and top with some parmesan cheese. 
  3. Homemade chicken (or tofu) & veggie skewers – a great option that can be prepped ahead of time and cooked over the BBQ or fire. Serve with your choice of bread, wraps or rice as well as a mixed salad and your choice of sauce 
  4. Chickpea and pumpkin curry – a hearty, simple and fibre-packed option. Simply simmer some curry paste over the fire or on your campstove, then add in some onion, and mixed vegetables such as pumpkin and canned chickpeas. Then add some coconut milk and cook until thick and fragrant. We recommend serving this with rice or garlic naan. 
  5. Elevated 2-minute noodle soup – a staple that is not to be underestimated. Choose your favourite instant noodle packet and cook to the packet instructions, then add your choice of protein such as eggs or tofu and some veggies such as corn, mushrooms or spinach and you’ve got a quick, simple and nutrient-packed campfire dinner in under 5 minutes.
